Schiedammertje
Lichtvormgevers has developed together with urban designer Bram van Hengel a small roadblock that fits perfectly in the the town of Schiedam. The "Schiedammertje" is a bollard and can be fitted with or without a light source.
History of Schiedam
Schiedam was build from a dam in the river Schie. The Schie was an important water way to the old Dutch inland. The prosperity of Schiedam originated from the shipping industry. Ships could not go any further inland than this dam and their cargo had to be unloaded and reloaded here in Schiedam. The result was a lot of work took place in Schiedam. Combined with trade, fishery and industry in the area resulted in a fast growth of the settlement at the dam in the Schie.
