In the contemporary station area of Almere Centrum, the Bus Station is being transformed into an inclusive and climate-conscious mobility hub and residential area.
The Stationsplein and Mandelaplein have already been transformed into a nature-inclusive place where people feel safe, can function well and people become part of nature.
The Bus Station, where so much care has been given to the spatial design, is accompanied by an Contetual Lighting Design. Fitting within the previously drawn up lightvision for the station area, in line with the already realised squares, integrated into the design of Sant & Co Landscape Architecture.
The extra accentuated platform islands form a connection from north to south. The axis running from east to west from the NS gates to the station hall is also given extra emphasis.
The light-absorbing bus lanes are deliberately kept somewhat darker, so that the bus is a guest in the traffic hub.
In this way, Almere is building a coherent, modern and nature-inclusive station area where it is pleasant to stay after sunset. A beautiful and representative starting and ending point for visitors and residents of the city.
