The Government of Schiedam gave Lichtvormgevers the opportunity to build a beautiful "ribbon of light" that goes from the Station square to the historical city center. Depending the location the light was designed based upon function, identity and image. At the station square the need for exuberance and image was greater than in the historical center. Lichtvormgevers showed this exuberance in the use of materials and light intensities. In the historical city center the identity was the starting point. Nostalgia and history were amplified with light.
