Lichtvormgevers makes the lighting design for the station area in Leeuwarden.
Lichtvormgevers was given the difficult task of putting light quality on the spot with as much reuse of the existing lighting installation as possible.
In the beginning of 2018 a completely new lighting installation was put into use, that gave many complaints. After sunset, the beautiful surroundings of the day are completely destroyed. The installation consists of (high-spaced) 16 meters high lighting columns with stadium spotlights, which flattens the area the way it is alluminated.
The lighting design by Lichtvormgevers has fallen well with the municipality. In the space a soft light-blanket is laid, a kind of soft and fresh moonlight. Warm, horizontal and vertical light accents are laid in this. The contrast creates a balanced and warm street scene, a nice residential area and also an area in which you can see at one glance how to walk to the Busstation or the City center. Cycle and pedestrian crossings become more safe because they are additionally illuminated.
It is expected that the realization will take place in 2019.
